Bruce Lee, Adaptation And A Holographic Chip (Revisited)

“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.”
~ Bruce Lee

20131217-141650.jpg

I opened with the quote from Bruce Lee because it has significance as a way that one should be looking at and acting upon how we keep our bodies healthy as well as a way to live life. As you read on you will hopefully get a better understanding of the relationship between the idea of adaptation, his quote, Apple, being healthy or healthier and Cieaura.

Apple’s latest iteration of its ubiquitous iPhone and its revamped operation system, now known as iOS7 were unleashed into the wild this September 2013. For some reason they were my catalyst for this blog on Adaptation. Of the two products Apple’s operating system, its OS changed the most. Many are asking why change something that was working just fine? Hmmmm? Creatures of habit, are we? Yes we are and for some of us ( a whole lot of us) change is challenging even if it is for the better. It will force us to come off of autopilot so to speak and learn again.

Criticism is the by-product of change just as is Praise. That criticism, usually comes before giving whatever it is a fair trial. However all too many times Criticism seems to get front headlines just as Bad News does in various publications. Because I am the Apple goto guy with my circle of friends several of them have called or texted me for advise on how to do this or that on the new OS. There was not any praise but criticisms before they even gave the new approach a chance or better yet themselves a chance to learn (adapt). However, because I had not downloaded the new OS I was not able to advise them, yet. I was getting enough communication from my various friends and acquaintances that I took the plunge. I downloaded iOS7.

Here were my thought processes. Hmmmm, interesting. I don’t like this. I don’t particularly like that. Now why did they do that? This is too this and that is too that. Just give it a chance, Clarke. Lol. Sound familiar? Well after two days of using it I am now saying, I like this. I particularly like that. I see why they did that. LOL. You see even for someone like myself who considers himself pretty open to change, ( beneficial change) I started off with the negatives too. I will state though that the way I expressed my thoughts here were not as pronounced as they may appear to you my reader.

The point is that we as human beings have the propensity to remain static as well as adapt or adapt quickly. We each make the choices which side of these two places we want to be irrespective of our propensities. Apple has been one of those companies that is successfully and constantly adapting. If it did not it would not be the respected power house that it is. It did not invent the computer graphic interfaces, the phone, the tablet etcetera. However they were able to improve upon the existing technologies combining them with the best that current and projected technologies could offer. They THOUGHT DIFFERENT. They THINK DIFFERENT. They took the risk with developing products that have an EASE of use that the public many times did not even know it wanted nor needed. As far as I can see they do not change for change sake but for ways that bring definitive benefits. It delivered and continues to deliver!

CIEAURA is also that company. It did not invent acupuncture nor the principles upon which it was built. However it found a way to THINK DIFFERENT.

20131217-142812.jpg

It combines the best of the science and technology of acupuncture with the best of what 21st century technology has to offer. We too offer something that you may not even know that you wanted or needed. Once you use it you will also be in the know! It is the holographic chip that acts on acupuncture principles. CIEAURA did not create this change for change sake either, but to bring definitive health benefits to people worldwide. Those benefits are the ability of anyone anywhere to assist their bodies to reduce discomfort due to Pain and Allergies. Benefits that assist your bodies to have better Energy, Sleep or improved Libido with better hormonal balance. Cieaura THOUGHT DIFFERENT and they THINK DIFFERENT as well. It has developed products that have that EASE of USE factor! No pills are popped nor things ingested. Our Holographic Stickers are non-invasive, energetic, work on the principles of Qi ( chee), are non-transdermal ( no needles used, nothing enters the body) They have no side-effects and are truly Age and Gender Agnostic! These Holographic Chips deliver each and every day!

So, Apple has adapted, Cieaura has adapted and both continue to do so. Are you open to adapt to something that is truly beneficial to bettering your quality of life? Are you more like the water that knows what it is and has the ability to adapt to change to the benefit of itself?.

If so, then take not only a closer look at Cieaura but take an action that just might assist your body to help itself as it has others and mine too.

Changing not only the way you think but the actions you take. Here’s to your health.

A Discussion: Acupuncture Without Needles. Does It Work?

Radio talk show host Trudy Beerman interviewed me on her radio talk show DEBT FREE WEALTH RADIO. The topic? Needle-less acupuncture as it relates to Cieaura’s holographic Chip technology and the benefits this technology is bringing to people who use our products.

On Trudy’s show we explore this new modality trend, discuss the principles this product works on, and review what health challenges it addresses.

Acupuncture which has been a mainstream approach to health in much of Asia for untold centuries, is becoming more accepted as an alternative treatment option in the western world. Cieaura, has converged modern technology with that of TCM ( Traditional Chinese Medicine – Acupuncture) into something that looks like a sticker or band-aid. These products can address issues of Sleep, Libido, Energy, Allergies, Pain, Weight Management, Balance & Focus without the use of any drugs whatsoever.

Some very prominent people in the medical profession are stating that tremendous strides are taking place in the area of energy medicine in the 21st century. Cieaura is at its forefront. So, listen in to this conversation that will give you additional insight into this amazing technology. You may just decide to try the product yourself. And, for the entrepreneurial person, here is your chance to not only explore this exciting business opportunity but actually “catch the wave” so to speak.

Better Z’s With A Holographic Chip Called …

All of us have those long working days from time to time. Some of us even have them more regularly than the general population. Air traffic controllers, fireman/women, medical staff, police officers and military personnel are a few who come to mind as part of that second group. Sleeping moments by this second group can then be looked upon as moments that are few and far between, and as something highly valued when gotten. But, whether, you are in the first or second group, sleep by all its various terms [ call it a night • cat nap • get forty winks • saw wood • shut-eye or snooze • catch some z’s •] as some may call it in the English speaking world are something we all need.

My favorite though is “getting or catching some Z’s”. So what does Z’s (sleep), the above groups, and the rest of us have to do with a holographic chip? A whole whole lot. And how important is sleep to each of us?

Well, extremely important! Getting Z’s has created an annual $32+billion dollar industry. Its corresponding cost to productivity in the work place is estimated at being almost double that at a whopping $63 billion plus per annum. How did we go from something that came naturally and was/is essentially free to needing, wanting or having to pay for it? Which came first, the chicken or the egg so to speak. In other words did our problems with sleep come first or the drug industry that perpetuates our dependency on these drugs come first? If any you reading this knows that answer, let me know. In the meantime I will either inform you or refresh your memory about the perils associated with taking drugs.

Most of us are more aware now than ever that virtually every drug in existence has some type of side-effect. Drugs such as DIPHENHYDRAMINE, a popular antihistamine used for allergies also causes people to fall asleep. So people use it to help them with sleeping too. But again Diphenhydramine has side-effects. It can and does cause urinating problems, dry mouth, constipation in addition to impairment of mental functioning due to drowsiness. Also, to be most effective it must be taken 4 to six times within a 24 hour period.

ZOLPIDEM and DOXEPINE which are also very popular sleeping drugs in the U.S. are suggested for use only if you are able to get a full nights rest. Zolpidem stays in our systems well past the time that we need it for sleep therefore many feel drowsiness for quite some time after waking. Some other possible side-effects are: loss of coordination, stuffy nose, dry mouth, nose or throat irritation; nausea, constipation, diarrhea, upset stomach, headache, muscle pain, to name a few. (1) Doxepine though not designed for allergies has a similarity to diphenhydramine. It has an antihistamine component to it that blocks histamine receptors in our brains (serotonin, acetylcholine, and norepinephrine our natural brain chemicals) responsible for us sleeping or not sleeping. Doxepine’s side-effects can make you feel like you might pass out; tremors, confusion, hallucinations, unusual thoughts, convulsions, painful or difficult urination, feeling dizzy, blurred vision, ringing in your ears; weight gain.(2) Then there are the Benzodiazepines a product that helps insomniacs get to sleep. It makes us dependent upon it, in other words addicted and therefore withdrawal symptoms occur if we try to stop taking it. You are going to need to be supervised by a doctor to get off of this one or its related other drugs.

Does the list of side-effects appear to be growing? It is! But at least here you have a chance to read them at your speed and not some fast talking 25 second commercial. There are a plethora of other drugs out there that assist us as well as having harming side-effects. You, my readers problably could make this list much more extensive.

So, you have some idea of what sleep drugs do for you, how they do it to you and what side effects they can produce. But if we do not get sufficient sleep then our well being suffers. Without sufficient sleep our thought processes and memory are impaired due to fatigue. Moodiness occurs even to the point of depression for many. Pain is amplified in our bodies in the absence of sleep. Our immune system suffers as well. Is this what is called a “Catch 22”? Not necessarily.

There are definitely more natural herbal approaches to assisting us to get a better nights sleep. But this blog is not addressing those at this time. The focus is on a particular holographic chip that draws its inspiration (actually the principles of TCM Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture) for helpining us to get a better nights sleep. It does so by putting us in deepest sleep called REM.

The natural occuring chemical in our brains, DOPAMINE helps us to fall asleep. While the chemical cousins so to speak, SEROTONIN and MELATONIN give us a sense of well being and helps us with the necessary cycles of sleep. These chemicals cause electrical impulses which vary through our sleeping process but also helps us through the sleeping process. Their order have been named as follows: Delta, Theta, Alpha and Beta. (Yes I know for you Greek scholars these are not in the order of the Greek alphabet. That is a whole other story.) It is the last stage in the cycle, the BETA stage or the REM stage, that is said to be responsible for our deepest sleep and our dream state.

It is here the deepest sleep state, the intense vivid dreaming state, the calming, rejuventing, restoring, re-vitalizing state of sleep called BETA that this HOLOGRAPHIC CHIP helps you to attain. And it does so without any drugs whatsoever. Best of all there are no side-effects.

What Holographic Chip will help you to get better Z’s? What is its name?

Its name is REST QUIET.

Unrealistic, Needle-less Acupuncture.

REALISTIC? Why must you be realistic?

Walking into a room and flicking a switch, and the lights come on. That is unrealistic. Edison & Tesla did not care. Bending pieces of metal and putting people in it and sending it across the oceans, that is unrealistic! The Wright Brothers didn’t care. The earth was proved to revolve around the sun and not the other way around. Nicolaus Copernicus in the 1500s defied the Catholic Church and Ptolemaic system with heliocentrism. He apparently didn’t care. Jazz and Blues an original American musical art form originating with those of African descent was not considered music well sort of. It was called “The Devil’s Music”— unrealistic? Apparently those of African descent didn’t care either. Look at it now!

Energy fields surrounding our human bodies that can be influenced? Unrealistic, according to western medical practices. The idea of the bodies energy called Qi (chee) and points on the body connecting that energy called meridians, unrealistic. Yet almost 3000 years ago Huang Di and his physician Qi Bo didn’t care either. They wrote a book called, THE NEI JING (THE YELLOW EMPERORS CLASSIC OF INTERNAL MEDICINE) that propelled the effective practice of acupuncture into what we know it as today.

What all these things had in common was they broke all the established rules and protocols of their day.

Putting information on the back of what appears to be a “sticker” that works on those same acupuncture principles that were written about in ancient China almost 3000 years ago in the book “The Yellow Emperors Classic of Internal Medicine” – that’s unrealistic. An object that looks like a “sticker” that when applied can assist one’s body address issues of pain, allergies, sleep, energy, weight, focus and balance all without drugs and side affects! That is unrealistic! The similarities, CieAura broke the rules too. The difference is, we care.

“Chronic Back Pain? 423% Drug Addiction Increase? AN ALTERNATIVE.”

Was the 423% increase an exaggeration? Could be. It is definitely not an exaggeration though that “pill popping” because of this problem has grown at an alarming rate. However, are you interested learning about something you could be using right now that has a proven 80% efficacy.* of helping to diminish your discomfort without the use of the addicting, side-effect producing pharmaceuticals (drugs). Read on. It goes without saying that you be the judge and decide how important your well being is.

http://www.webmd.com/back-pain/news/20080212/86-billion-spent-on-back-neck-pain

20131205-074526.jpg

“More U.S. health care dollars are spent treating back and neck pain than almost any other medical condition, but much of that money may be wasted, a new study suggests. Researchers from the University of Washington, Seattle, found that the nation’s dramatic rise in expenditures for the diagnosis and treatment of back and neck problems has not led to expected improvements in patient health.”

“Overall, pharmaceutical expenditures related to back and neck pain increased by 188% between 1997 and 2005, but cost associated with prescription narcotics rose by a whopping 423%.”

“University of Washington Medical Center clinician Richard Deyo, MD, MPH, tells WebMD that increasing use of the newer narcotics such as the drugs Vicodin and OxyContin is largely responsible for the increase, even though their use for chronic pain is controversial. He says patients need to recognize that the drugs have MANY potential side effects, including drowsiness, persistent constipation, and sexual dysfunction.’

‘Deyo co-directs the University of Washington Center for Cost and Outcomes Research, and he was a co-author of the study. “We still don’t know much about their long-term efficacy and safety for chronic back pain,” he says. “PATIENTS NEED TO UNDERSTAND that if they take these (opioid) medications long term, after a few months it will be DIFFICULT to stop. And there is pretty good evidence that long-term use may actually INCREASE SENSITIVITY to PAIN.” (1)

Alarming! I should say so! Chronic back pain! It bothers you from minute to minute, day to day, week to week, month to month and sometimes even year to year. You have tried this, and tried that. Some of you may have found a solution. Others are still searching. Some of you are using allopathic approaches. Others holistic and homeopathic approaches. Yet, some of you are combining all approaches. Whatever your particular [ this ] or [ that ] chronic pain is quite real and affects your daily life and those around you too.

Does everyone have chronic back pain? Thank goodness, no. However, the majority of us will experience this at some point in our lives and unfortunately it appears more frequently as we age. What causes this problem? Well other than, genetics which can be attributed to degenerative aspects, osteoporosis, arthritis and spinal stenosis to name just a few or some other serious disease such as arthritis or diabetes we usually inflict it upon ourselves. We neglect excercises that can strengthen our back and abdomen muscles to minimize the chance of injury or we do too much too soon. We lift something the wrong way something that is too heavy causing spraining, straining, and spasms, in our back. For kids it could be back packs with too many books in them. Obesity, pregnancy, bad posture, sleeping the wrong way also puts unwanted stress on our spinal columns. The pain associated with these last ones usually go away once the weight is lost, the child is born, posture or sleeping position is corrected.

For the other serious issues, a pinched nerve, ruptured or compressed spinal discs put some type of disruption on the transmissions of signals that assist our locomotion thereby causing pain. Our disc start losing fluid with age. That fluid acts as a shock absorber and helps with flexibility. Think about the times that you might have stepped off of a curb without paying attention. Do you rememer the shock that was transmitted through your back? That fluid helped to absorb and spread the force more evenly to minimize what you did. The lessening or abscense of that fluid would have inflicted much greater pain and longer lasting too.

Though it may not make you feel better, you are not alone in your pain or desperation to find a solution to either eliminate it or diminish it. 80 plus billion dollars per year is spent dealing with this problem in the United States. Do you realize what that number represents? Let’s put it this way, we are spending as much on back pain issues as we do on cancer and arthritis combined. And the results are UNDERWHELMING.

You should be aware by now that most if not all allopathic approaches have side effects like allergic reactions, depression, drowsiness, judgment impairment, decreased reaction time, and potential for addiction, and even increasing pain. So ingesting these opioids, analgesics (ingested or topical), anticonvulsants or products that contain salicylates, which some people may have a high sensitivity to, may give you temporary relief but present other problems for your body. Apparently though, these down sides have not stopped nor slowed the pace for either these things being prescribed or us asking for them.

Unless it has been determined that surgery is necessary, chiropractic and acupuncture have been shown to be effective. Cold compresses as well as hot ones and very warm baths seem to bring relief too. Exercises that strengthen the abdomen and back muscles such as stretching exercises, yoga swimming, walking, and correct posture all can and do help improve or minimize back pain.

And now you can look at another approach based on acupuncture. It is called needle-less acupuncture. This new technology called a holographic chip (it looks like a sticker) employs the principles of Qi (chee) and the meridians of acupuncture. It influences, adjusts and balances your body like acupuncture so that your body can help itself. There are absolutely no needles. There are no drugs involved. They are non-transdermal (nothing enters your body). And you can use it yourself without fear of bodily reprisals.

First, Do No Harm, Part III – (Primum Non Nocere)

First, Do No Harm, Part III – Primum Non Nocere.

Welcome to this final treatment on the topic of Primum No Nocere. What a journey it is and it is not over. The basic tenent of First, Do No Harm has survived the millennia. Our world has become smaller and more inter-connected because of technology. Because of this lines have blurred between cultures, societies, male and female as to what we are capable of and what is expected. This has caused a transfer of information at unprecedented rates. We are finding out that we truly are much more alike than different, despite differences. As this transfer of information has grown our understanding of ourselves and of the workings of anatomy has grown many-fold. These progressions of the human, mind, body and spirit has also caused a change to the what we write. They are reflected in the progression of these medical oathes.

It is apparent that deities no longer influence many of these thought processes as they did in Hammurabi’s,

20131206-072149.jpg

Vaidya’s, Hippocrates’, Sun Simiao’s Asaph’s, Maimodes’ and Enjuin’s time with their polytheistic and monotheistic overlays. (Though I believe that theism still plays an underlying role). What once was taboo is now passeé or on its way to be. The oaths have taken on a more humanistic form. You will see this change in the more current revised version of the Hippocratic oath and the AMA Code of Medical Ethics. And, surprisingly for me at least, these oathes are no longer a requirement of graduating physicians.(1) In some cases these oathes are now being called “declarations”.

– The code of HAMMURABI 1792–1750 BCE;
– VAIDYA’S oath, somewhere in the 1600s BCE;
– HIPPOCRATIC Oath, somewhere around 4 BCE;
– SUN SIMIAO OATH (581–682 CE), also known as the “Chinese Hippocrates”;
– ASAPH OATH – somewhere around 600 CE;
– THE OATH OF MAIMONIDES – somewhere around the 1500s CE;
• The 17 rules of ENJUIN – somewhere around the 1500s CE, Japan;
• HIPPOCRATIC Oath, CONTEMPORARY 1964 & 2010
• AMA Code of Medical Ethics, 2001 American Medical Association code of ethics;
• American Board Of Internal Medicine. (Summary)

The 17 rules of Enjuin 1500s CE, Japan (2)
The Seventeen Rules of Enjuin are a code of conduct developed for students of the Japanese Ri-shu school of medicine in the 16th century CE. These rules require physicians to work together with others of their trade as a brotherhood. The guidelines regarded conduct not only in action but also in mind, prohibiting immoral feelings when examining a woman.

1. Each person should follow the path designated by Heaven (Buddha, the Gods).
2. You should always be kind to people. You should always be devoted to loving people.
3. The teaching of Medicine should be restricted to selected persons.
4. You should not tell others what you are taught, regarding treatments without permission.
5. You should not establish association with doctors who do not belong to this school.
6. All the successors and descendants of the disciples of this school shall follow the teachers’ ways.
7. If any disciples cease the practice of Medicine, or, if successors are not found at the death of the disciple, all the medical books of this school should be returned to the School of Enjuin.
8. You should not kill living creatures, nor should you admire hunting or fishing.
9. In our school, teaching about poisons is prohibited, nor should you receive instructions about poisons from other physicians. Moreover, you should not give abortives to the people.
10. You should rescue even such patients as you dislike or hate. You should do virtuous acts, but in such a way that they do not become known to people. To do good deeds secretly is a mark of virtue.
11. You should not exhibit avarice and you must not strain to become famous. You should not rebuke or reprove a patient, even if he does not present you with money or goods in gratitude.
12. You should be delighted if, after treating a patient without success, the patient receives medicine from another physician, and is cured.
13. You should not speak ill of other physicians.
14. You should not tell what you have learned from the time you enter a woman’s room, and, moreover, you should not have obscene or immoral feelings when examining a woman.
15. Proper or not, you should not tell others what you have learned in lectures, or what you have learned about prescribing medicine.
16. You should not like undue extravagance. If you like such living, your avarice will increase, and you will lose the ability to be kind to others.
17. If you do not keep the rules and regulations of this school, then you will be cancelled as a disciple. In more severe cases, the punishment will be greater.

HIPPOCRATIC OATH, CONTEMPORARY(3)
Written in 1964 by Louis Lasagna, Academic Dean of the School of Medicine at Tufts University

20131206-073116.jpg

• I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:
• I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.
• I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin trap of over treatment and therapeutic nihilism.
• I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon’s knife or the chemist’s drug.
• I will not be ashamed to say “I know not,” nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient’s recovery.
• I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.
• I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person’s family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.
• I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.
• I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.
• If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.

HIPPOCRATIC OATH, CONTEMPORARY 2010(4)

“I do solemnly swear, by whatever each of us hold most sacred:

• That I will be loyal to the Profession of Medicine and just to its members.
• That I will lead my life and practice my art in uprightness and honor.
• That into whatsoever house I shall enter it shall be for the good of the sick to the utmost of my power, my holding myself far aloof from wrong, from corruption, from the tempting of others to vice.
• That I will exercise my art solely for the cure of my patients, and will give no drug nor perform an operation for a criminal purpose, even if solicited, far less suggest it.
• That whatsoever I shall see or hear of the lives of my patients which is not fitting to be spoken, I will keep inviolably secret.
• These things I do swear. Let each of us bow the head in sign of acquiescence.

ABIM – American Board Of Internal Medicine Summary

ABIM Summary
The practice of medicine in the modern era is beset with unprecedented challenges in virtually all cultures and societies. These challenges center on increasing disparities among the legitimate needs of patients, the available resources to meet those needs, the increasing dependence on market forces to transform health care systems, and the temptation for physicians to forsake their traditional commitment to the primacy of patients’ interests. To maintain the fidelity of medicine’s social contract during this turbulent time, we believe that physicians must reaffirm their active dedication to the principles of professionalism, which entails not only their personal commitment to the welfare of their patients but also collective efforts to improve the health care system for the welfare of society. This Charter on Medical Professionalism is intended to encourage such dedication and to promote an action agenda for the profession of medicine that is universal in scope and purpose.

Seven medical schools did not reply to the survey. In France, it is common for new medical graduates to sign a written oath.

First, Do No Harm Part II – Primum Non Nocere

Primum Non Nocere, (First, Do No Harm). Part II of III.

Hopefully you have read part one of this blog, “First, do no harm”. It should have made you aware how entrenched this idea is in our human psyche. It is so innate and so powerful that it is cross cultural and has been used by the practitioners of the healing arts and sciences, past and present. You have seen this idea had its roots long before the Greeks and Hippocrates and it was important enough to not only be written down, but inscribed in stone. Much was centered around the diety of those ages or the queen, king or pharoah. And sometimes these earthly monarchs were considered both man and god despite their mortal shortcomings. Much was expected out of these ancient medical practitioners even though their true abilities would be considered quite limited by today’s standards.

There were severe repercussions in ancient times for messing up too. In ancient times the gods were supposed to have the final say in matters of health, life and death. In actuality those in power did. The practioners experienced the wrath of their queens, kings, pharoahs if their loved ones became more critically ill or died at the hands of these practitioners. The punishment could be as minor as imprisonment and a beating, to as severe as losing a bodily part or one’s life.

I will touch upon Sun Simiao, Asaph and Maimondes in this blog.

– The code of HAMMURABI 1792–1750 BCE;
– VAIDYA’S oath, somewhere in the 1600s BCE;
– HIPPOCRATIC Oath, somewhere around 4 BCE;
• SUN SIMIAO OATH (581–682 CE), also known as the “Chinese Hippocrates”;
• ASAPH OATH – somewhere around 600 CE;
• THE OATH OF MAIMONIDES – somewhere around the 1500s CE;
• The 17 rules of ENJUIN – somewhere around the 1500s CE, Japan;
• HIPPOCRATIC Oath, CONTEMPORARY 1964 & 1997
• AMA Code of Medical Ethics, 1847 American Medical Association code of ethics;
• American Board Of Internal Medicine.

SUN SIMIAO OATH (581–682 CE)*

What Hippocrates is to the west Sun Simiao of China would be considered to the east. Simiao was also renown for the great care that he gave those he treated. Like Hippocrates, Simiao emphasized ethical and avoiding inappropriate behavior for physicians through his own practices and his writings. He wrote two books and a treatise that were just plain amazing for the time due to the scope and detail of information that accurately assisted patient and physician alike.

The two books were named “Beiji Qianjin Yaofang” (Prescriptions for Emergencies Worth a Thousand Gold ) and “Qianjin Yifang” which can be considered an addendum to the first. Plus he wrote the treatise “The Absolute Sincerity of Great Physicians”. The quote below gives you some idea of Simiao’s outlook and approach to his profession and what he expected of others.

‘A Great Physician should not pay attention to status, wealth or age; neither should he question whether the particular person is attractive or unattractive, whether he is an enemy or friend, whether he is a Chinese or a foreigner, or finally, whether he is uneducated or educated. He should meet everyone on equal grounds. He should always act as if he were thinking of his close relatives.’

ASAPH OATH**

Over in another part of the globe we find Asaph Judaeus. 55 rules or codes are attributed to this Jewish physician. . His work like Hippocrates is attributed to him though there are reservations in the academic world as to who actually did the writing. Asaph’s works are considered the oldest written Hebrew writings explaining physicians code of ethics.

MAIMONIDES OATH/PRAYER***

Moving forward in time, a little over 1000 years from about 550 CE to about 1500 CE we come across another influential man of medicine, Moses Maimonides/Mūsā ibn Maymūn of Cordoba (Spain)

20131122-142703.jpg

“Grant that my patients have confidence in me and my art and follow my directions and my counsel.

• Remove from their midst all charlatans and the whole host of vicious relatives and know-all nurses, cruel people who arrogantly frustrate the wisest purposes of our art and often lead Thy creatures to their death.

• Should those who are wiser than I wish to improve and instruct me, let my soul gratefully follow their guidance; for vast is the extent of our art. Should conceited fools, however, censure me, then let love for my profession steel me against them, so that I remain steadfast without regard for age, for reputation, or for honor, because surrender would bring to Thy creatures sickness and death.

• Imbue my soul with gentleness and calmness when older colleagues, proud of their age, wish to displace me or to scorn me or disdainfully to teach me. May even this be of advantage to me, for they know many things of which I am ignorant, but let not their arrogance give me pain. For they are old and old age is not master of the passions. I also hope to attain old age upon this earth, before Thee, Almighty God!

• Let me be contented in everything except in the great science of my profession. Never allow the thought to arise in me that I have attained to sufficient knowledge, but vouchsafe to me the strength, the leisure and the ambition ever to extend my knowledge. For art is great, but the mind of man is ever expanding.

• Almighty God! Thou hast chosen me in Thy mercy to watch over the life and death of Thy creatures. I now apply myself to my profession. Support me in this great task so that it may benefit mankind, for without Thy help not even the least thing will succeed.”

I hope that you have found this very brief discussion at least enlightening if not exciting. It definitely shows how the medical profession has progressed and is progressing. We are discovering that our ancestors were more correct than even they may have realized or even we realized. Our communities are beginning to move towards approaches that are assisting our bodies to help itself without the fear of side-effects. This is only the beginning of this resurgence, but we are finally moving in the right direction. Our ability to compile centuries of medical knowledge is finally moving us back in a sense, towards more holistic and homeopathic approaches. We are now combining this with the best modern science has to offer.

Cieaura (See-ah-ra) is at the forefront of this movement combining old and new. It has taken the ancient technology of acupuncture (Qi and meridians) and the modern technology of a hologram to create a whole new product that acts on the proven and effective principles of acupuncture. And, we are doing it successfully to the tune of 50 + countries within 3 years! Primum non nocere.
